Coastal Cleanup Day - Fletcher Cove
The City of Solana Beach will be hosting a site for this year’s Coastal Cleanup Day at Fletcher Cove. Coastal Cleanup Day is a global cleanup effort and San Diego County’s largest single-day environmental cleanup in coordination with the California Coastal Commission and I Love a Clean San Diego. Be a part of the movement and join us on Saturday, September 21 by registering here. The event takes place from 9am – 12pm, and volunteers are encouraged to come anytime during the event to help make a difference. The City and I Love a Clean San Diego will provide gloves and bags to dispose of all the litter collected.
A key part of the success of Coastal Cleanup Day relies on volunteers recording the types of litter they clean up. This detailed data gives the City, I Love a Clean San Diego, and the Coastal Commission a snapshot of what is affecting the health of our environment to help shape change. Data collected from this event feeds into the world’s largest database on marine debris.
If you or your community group want to take a larger role, as a site captain, on Coastal Cleanup Day, please reach out to Nicole Grucky at ngrucky@cosb.org. Site captains will help collect waivers, distribute supplies, give a safety talk, and record trash and debris totals throughout the event.
Join the City of Solana Beach and be a part of the global cleanup effort on Saturday, September 21 to protect our region’s natural environment, waterways, and ocean. Register here.
