Native Poppy's Flower Power

Meg Blancato, Native Poppy vice president and co-owner, will join the October 14 SeaWeeders Garden Club meeting to talk about the 11-year old business with the pretty, pink delivery trucks! Join us on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the cottage behind the Boys & Girls Club, 533 Lomas Santa Fe Dr.
Meg became a co-owner of Native Poppy in 2018, having worked at the company's first store in South Park since opening day. She joined founder Natalie Gill, who launched Native Poppy in 2014 initially as an event-based floral business.
The pair succeeded through the Covid pandemic, survived a flooding of one of their facilities, and have added workshops and field trips to the local flower farms they support to their menu of goods and services. They also grow 100 varieties of flowers in their own farm in El Cajon -- a complex of 53 raised beds on a defunct tennis court! From the get-go, Native Poppy committed to selling locally grown flowers and made some unorthodox choices, such as NOT offering single-bloom, dozen-stem bunches. Their mission is "sharing love through the power of flowers."
