COVID-19 PLAN AND DOCUMENT DROP-OFF GUIDANCE AND INFORMATION

The City of Solana Beach implemented citywide emergency service changes that were effective Tuesday, March 17th, which placed discretionary and ministerial plan review services temporarily on hold. The City of Solana Beach will now resume essential services related to discretionary and ministerial plan review services beginning Thursday, March 26th. These services will resume by appointment only. The purpose of the Plan and Document Drop-Off information is to inform the public, architects, designers, engineers, etc. of the expectations of City personnel and to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of customers, and City staff. The appointments will be coordinated with the respective project contact at the City. These services are being offered for existing projects that are already in process.

The following process and information shall be used for Plan and Document Drop-Off at City Hall to eliminate face-to-face customer interaction between the public and City staff:

  • Questions and discussions about the plans or documents and the process may be done via email or phone with the respective staff person.
  • Quarantine of submitted documents and plans: As COVID-19 is detectable for up to 3 hours after aerosolization and is spreadable through contaminated surfaces or objects, all submitted hard copy documents or plans will be placed in quarantine for a minimum of 24 hours before being reviewed or processed.
  • Each Department/Division will have scheduled windows of time for applicants to bring in plans for submittal. Submittal appointments are not a time for answering questions about the project or plans.
    • If you are unable to make your assigned appointment time, please call your project contact so that you may be rescheduled.
  • Scheduling Plan and Document Drop-Off should be done with the staff person processing your project. If you are unaware of how or unable to contact your point of contact for the project, please call the respective department below:
  • These appointments shall only be conducted on Thursdays each week until further notice.
  • A staff person from each respective department will process and route plans and documents to appropriate staff the following Monday.

To schedule a drop-off time please call the respective department phone number above or your project contact. Your patience with City staff and our inspectors and compliance with the COVID-19 Inspection Guidance information is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions regarding this information please contact Joseph Lim, City of Solana Beach Community Development Director at (858) 720-2434.
