Upcoming Gas Line Upgrade: Enhancing Safety and Reliability in Santa Fe Hills Community

Event Image
Date: Aug 09 , 2023

Starting from August 10, 2023, and expected to run until late September 2023, SDG&E® gas crews, or their authorized contractors, will initiate the installation of new gas lines within the Santa Fe Hills Community (please refer to the enclosed exhibit for specific details). This installation is geared towards enhancing natural gas safety and reliability in the area. However, to ensure the work is carried out safely, there may be a need for a temporary natural gas outage. Rest assured, you will be contacted by an SDG&E representative before any outage takes place. Furthermore, a dedicated service technician will be on hand to inspect and safely relight your gas appliances once the work is completed, should that be necessary. It's important to note that the construction timeline is subject to change due to compliance requirements, adverse weather conditions, or unforeseen events.

The installation of these improvements to the natural gas system will encompass both public and private properties, involving excavation and the creation of open trenches. To manage this, appropriate traffic control measures, including the presence of flagmen, will be implemented during construction hours. At the end of each work day, all open trenches will be securely covered with steel plates. The construction crew is committed to maintaining driveway access for residents and will work in coordination to ensure this. Close collaboration between the City Staff and SDG&E crews will be upheld to mitigate any potential disruptions to the neighborhood. While we understand avoiding the construction zone entirely might not always be feasible, we strongly recommend doing so as much as possible.

We deeply appreciate your patience and cooperation during this significant construction endeavor, which stands to improve the safety and reliability of the natural gas infrastructure in your local area.
