Mastering Smartphone Basics

Solana Beach Community Connections continues its partnership with Senior Tech Connect is sponsoring further instruction about using smartphones and androids at no cost to participants. Classes will be held on Thursdays, January 15 and January 22 at La Colonia Community Center Classroom, 715 Valley Avenue  in Solana Beach. 

One course, over two weeks, will be Smart Phone Basics about organizing and using smart phones.  On January 15, the class will cover Organizing Your Smart Phone.  On January 22, the topic is Downloading and Using Apps.  Those classes will run from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

For more advanced users, a second course, also over a two-week period, will be about photography and smart phones.  Photo Basics will include Capturing, Organizing and Sharing Photos on January 15 and Photo Mastery on January 22.  Those classes will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The instructor will be Dylan Willis from Senior Tech Connect. Mr. Willis is a San Diego Lead at Senior Tech Connect.  He is a Marine Corps Veteran with a background in cybersecurity and network administration.  Senior Tech Connect is an organization committed to teaching mature adults to safely use technology’s tools to better connect with their loved ones, communities and our world.

  • Beginner Class: 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM - SMARTPHONE BASICS: ORGANIZING AND USING PHONE 
  • Advance Class: 11 :00 AM to 12:00 PM - PHOTO BASICS: ORGANIZING & SHARING PHOTOS 

Classes held on Thursday, January 22, 2026

  • Beginner Class: 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM - SMARTPHONE BASICS: DOWNLOADING AND USING APPS 
  • Advance Class: 11 :00 AM to 12:00 PM - PHOTO MASTERY: EDITING, MERGING, IDENTIFICATION 

Participants must register in advance for one or both topics and attend both weeks. Registration is limited

Please state you're signing up for the January Phone Workshop with your name, phone number and email address, and indicate which of the two courses (phone basics or photo basics) you wish to take.
