Holiday Tree Curbside Collection
Residents can recycle holiday trees by placing the trees inside your green organic waste cart at home. Trucks will no longer pick up trees that are places on the curbside.
When placing them inside your curbside green cart make sure to first:
- Cut tree in 4-foot lengths and trim off branches, the lid must be able to close - or the truck will not take them
- Remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, and the tree stand
- No flocked trees
Flocked trees cannot be collected curbside and must be brought to the drop-off locations listed below.
Christmas Tree Drop-Off Locations
Drop-off sites will also be available from December 26, 2025 through January 16, 2026 at:
- Solana Beach City Hall - 635 S. Highway 101 (back of the parking lot)
- La Colonia Park - 715 Valley Avenue (in the parking lot)
Drop-off locations are for HOLIDAY TREES ONLY. Trees do not need to be cut down for recycling at drop-off locations. Please remember to remove all lights and ornaments before recycling your tree.

- Christmas Cards & Wrapping Paper: Recycle as mixed paper in your blue cart.
- Styrofoam Packaging: Recycle in your blue cart (no packing peanuts).
- Gift & Cardboard Boxes: Flatten boxes and recycle as mixed paper in your blue recycling cart.
- Christmas Trees and Wreaths: Recycle wreaths as green waste in your green organic waste cart for collection. Please remove all ornaments. Christmas trees can be recycled by placing them at the curb on your collection day per above mentioned instructions and curbside collection dates. Please remove all lights and ornaments.
