Small Aircraft Noise/Flight Complaints

Oftentimes Council Members and Staff either observe, hear, or are made aware of small aircraft circling over our City creating noise impacts. In a recent meeting with Staff at the City of San Diego Airports Division, this topic, particularly relating to air traffic from flight schools operating out of Montgomery Field was discussed. The City sought and received assurance from Airports Division staff that they would encourage responsible and safe aircraft practices in order to be a good neighbor to our community. While they do not have jurisdictional control over the airspace, they can respond to and effectuate guidance based on complaints received.

To that end, if you are interested in submitting a noise complaint, you can do so by going to the City of San Diego Airports Noise Management webpage at the following link: www.sandiego.gov/airports/noise

A Noise Compliant link is found on the right side of the screen below the Noise Management heading. Alternatively, you can call the Noise Abatement Hotline and leave a message at: 858-573-1436. If you would like a response, you should indicate that on the form or verbally request a response back if leaving a voice message.
