Remember to Leave Plastic Bags out of the Organics and Recycling Carts
Solana Beach's local waste hauler, EDCO, is required to conduct random audits on all residential and commercial trash, recycle, and organic routes within the City. The most common contaminant found in both recycling and organics carts are plastic bags.
If you collect your recyclable or compostable items in plastic bags, please remember to empty the contents of the bag directly into the bin and place the plastic bag into the trash. Or, collect and dispose your items in paper bags, which are acceptable in both carts. Plastic bags (including 'compostable' bio-plastic bags) are not recyclable or compostable, and can cause damage to EDCO's sorting machines.
