Date: Aug 07 , 2025

As part of ongoing improvement efforts along Highway 101, the Public Works Department has launched a tree grate replacement program in response to requests from the Community. The initiative focuses on replacing aging or damaged tree grates along the westside sidewalk to enhance pedestrian safety and maintain the aesthetics of the corridor.

To date, Public Works has replaced eight tree grates south of Cliff Street. In support of sustainability and cost efficiency, sections of grates that remain in good condition are being repurposed to replace other damaged units. An additional eight new grates have been ordered and will be installed upon delivery.

Funded through the Coastal Business/Visitors Fund using TOT revenue, this project reflects the City’s continued commitment to maintaining safe and attractive public spaces in collaboration with the Community
