New City Hall Pollinator Garden!
The Pollinator Friendly City Subcommittee of the Climate & Resiliency Commission has joined forces with the Seaweeders, Water's Path Landscape Design/Hidden Agave, and the City's Public Works department to plant a pollinator garden in front of City Hall. After installing the boulders and irrigation this past summer, the plants have just been added to complete the garden which will continue to grow and establish itself over the following months.
Special thanks to Scientist.com for their contribution towards funding this pollinator garden, and to everyone involved for making this happen.
What is a pollinator?
Pollinators are animals that facilitate the reproduction of flowering plants by transferring pollen. You may be familiar with several of the most common pollinators: from bees to bats and birds to butterflies. Unfortunately, the population of these pollinators have been declining with the decrease in viable habitat due to residential and commercial development. Rebuilding these habitats by planting pollinator gardens can help support the pollinator populations upon which we depend.
