City Hall Gallery Call to Artists 2026 Exhibitions
The Solana Beach Arts Commission invites artists interested in exhibiting their work at the City Hall Gallery in 2026-27 to submit proposals for individual or group art or educational exhibitions. This program aims to select six (6) exhibitions that will be scheduled every two months with each exhibit showcasing for about 8 weeks.
The City does not take any commission and their is no submission fee. All artwork that has been sold will be marked with a red dot on its name tag. Artists should be prepared with an ample body of work, they are encouraged to take a tour of the space and be familiar with the wall space in order to fill the designated areas. The deadline to apply is Friday, October 17th, at 5:30 PM.
Selected artists will be notified the first week of November 2026.
The commission makes this call on an annual basis. Artists of every level, novice to professional, are encouraged to apply. Work exhibited must be suitable to the space and its function.

Application Materials:
- Sample images of the artist’s proposed exhibition. Please include digital images of up to 10 works which are representative of the proposed exhibition (jpg or tiff format-300 dpi resolution). Please compile all images in one document and submit as an attachment within the application as a PDF format. Additional close-up photos of the artwork are allowed, and do not need to be listed separately in the application material. Group applications should include images of all artists’ work.
- Image List. Please provide information on each submitted image: Title, media, size, year created. You may also include this information for works that are part of the exhibit, but not shown as one of the 10 sample images.
- Artist’s information:
- Name (or contact for group entries)
- Address
- Telephone numbers (home, cell, and/or work number)
- Email address
- Artist’s website (if applicable)
- A brief artist’s statement or a brief artist’s bio that could be used in a press release, if selected
- The months you are available for showing.

City Hall Gallery Space:
The entire gallery must be fully utilized, meaning each dedicated gallery wall must cohesively have art installed. In addition, the gallery has five white pedestals of various sizes that are available to use.
Here is an generic City Hall Gallery Layout of the space for your reference. Do to the large space and wall layout, artist are highly recommend to schedule an official tour of the space to review the layout and discuss the space with City Staff.
If an artist cannot fill the space on their own, then we recommend and encourage artist to collaborate with another artists to ensure the space is filled cohesively.
Solana Beach City Hall Gallery is located inside Solana Beach City Hall at 635 Hwy 101, Solana Beach, CA 9207. The gallery is open to the public during regular business hours and during opening receptions. The City hosts a special opening reception for each exhibit, inviting the public to come view the art and meet the artists.
