City of Solana Beach Transitions to Official .ca.gov Domain

Starting Friday, January 16, 2026, the City of Solana Beach will begin using a new official and secure .ca.gov domain as part of a statewide modernization effort led by the California Department of Technology.

As part of this update, the City’s official website will transition to
https://www.cityofsolanabeach.ca.gov, and City staff will begin using new email addresses ending in @cityofsolanabeach.ca.gov.

What This Means for Residents:

Residents do not need to take any action as a result of this change.

• Existing City website links will continue to work and automatically redirect during the transition.
• Emails sent to City staff at their previous @cosb.org email addresses will still be delivered without interruption.

Why This Change Is Happening:

This transition supports a statewide initiative to modernize California government digital services by improving:

• Security – helping protect residents from fraudulent or spoofed websites and emails
• Accessibility – aligning with statewide technology standards
• Public Trust – making it easier to identify official California government communications

The .ca.gov domain is reserved exclusively for verified California government agencies.
