SNAP Program Delay and Local Food Resources

Event Image
Date: Oct 30 , 2025

On Saturday, November 1st, nearly 400,000 San Diegans lost access to food assistance. As you may know, funding for the CalFresh federal food assistant program, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), is currently delayed due to the Federal Shutdown that began on October 1st, 2025. The length of the delay for people to receive November benefits is unknown at this time and will depend on when the government reopens and the amount of time to restart the federal funding of benefits.

If you or someone you know is needs assistance, the following resources are here to help.

Community Resources:

  • Stay updated on the BenefitsCal website.
  • If you are an impacted CalFresh beneficiary, reach out to the County’s Self-Sufficiency Services Access Customer Service Call Center at 1-866-262-9881 for additional support and information on food resources. The call center will be open on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
