Join the Solana Beach Community Connections (SBCC) for an inspiring presentation by San Diego Honor Flight volunteer and Team Leader, Harriet Joslyn, as she shares the mission of Honor Flight and the profound impact it has on the veterans who experience it.  Harriet’s presentation will take place on Tuesday, November 18 at 6:00 PM at La Colonia Community Center, located at 715 Valley Avenue, Solana Beach, 92075.

Honor Flight San Diego (HFSD) is a nonprofit branch of the nationwide Honor Flight Network which consists of over 130 independent “hubs” across America.  HFSD is a team of volunteers who escort veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials using monies donated by individuals, foundations, associations, business owners, and corporations who wish to recognize our veterans’ veterans’ contributions and thank them for their service and sacrifice to the United States and its citizens.  Top priority for trips is given to the most senior veterans (WWII and Korea) and to veterans with terminal illnesses, plus veterans who’ve served between 1941-1975.

Harriet Joslyn raised her family all over the world while her husband served as a Marine Corps officer.  She taught at R. Roger Rowe School in Rancho Santa Fe and still works with the children there, connecting them with Honor Flight veterans and helping them raise money.  Children and grandchildren are encouraged to attend.

Ms. Joslyn, under the pen name of Jo Joslyn, wrote the book Unmistakable Errors based on her personal experiences after her husband’s passing and the challenges tied to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  She has donated all proceeds from the book to Honor Flight San Diego.

As a dedicated volunteer and team leader for over ten years, Harriet has traveled on numerous flights with veterans to Washington, D.C.  She also hosts quarterly breakfasts at Denny’s in Del Mar.
